When we were growing up in the 1970s, glam rock band KISS were at their theatrical peak. In the 1980s, KISS faded, but other glam metal acts tried to fill that gap. One was Twister Sister.
40 years ago, fueled by the video featuring actors from National Lampoon's Animal House, my older cousins, who were at the time attending the University of Hawaii-Manoa, liked Twisted Sister's "I Wanna Rock." If you stripped away the video and costumes, "I Wanna Rock" was a straight-forward anthem.
By the time we were in college in the early-1990s, glam rock like Twisted Sister was out. Nevertheless, we would, especially for Halloween parties, try to dress up like Twisted Sister. And it helped, to listen to "I Wanna Rock," while getting ready.
Nowadays, "I Wanna Rock" is merely a rock radio staple, and that is perfectly fine.
