35 years ago, Andrea, a petite curly blonde, lived across the dorm hall from me. She and I ate dinner in our dining hall, then hung out in our dorm's lounge. We then hit the showers.
In those days, our shower stalls had curtains, not solid doors.
I was starting my own shower, when Andrea...
...just casually walked in. And conversationally, she just picked up where we had left off. While continuing to talk to me, Andrea carried on, with washing her hair, and scrubbing herself. She handed her bar of soap, turned 180 degrees, and nonchalantly asked to scrub her back.
Hemmed in, I kept playing Wrathchild America's "Climbin' The Walls" in my head. The band came from, of all places, West Virginia. If you didn't know anyone, you really had to dig, in order to find this kind of obscure thrash. But now that we are 35 years older, "Climbin' The Walls" has a kind of charm to it.
