35 years ago, my wife and her friends loved Eighth Wonder's "Cross My Heart." It was mostly heard at dances. But no one had a boyfriend, so as individual, you'd be on the dance floor, looking for a decent guy. The song gave you an excuse, to go up to said guy, and kind of bump (and maybe grind) him. You hoped that the song would invite him to get closer to you, pay attention to you, ignore his guy friends and other girls.

Nowadays, independently of your daughter, "Cross My Heart" just makes you feel good.
