"Damn, mom, stop touching my boobs!"
The mom, Lotus, and I grew up in the same Fillmore District apartment complex. But, common for S.F., she and I never went to the same schools. In early 1989, Lotus went to Galileo, which was close to Ghirardelli Square. I went all the way out to Lowell, near S.F. State.
Since Lotus' parents are no longer alive, Lotus still lives in the same place. Lotus' daughter is in college, so we shall see if, due to unaffordable housing, she has to come home.
Anyway, Lotus recalls that my friends, at least later in high school, were nerd girls. And she thought it was strange, that the nerd girls, on occasion, busted out the glam rock. And that included the House Of Lords' "I Wanna Be Loved."
Gregg Giuffria needed a new band. He signed with Gene Simmons' label. They recruited lead singer James Christian, guitar virtuoso Lanny Cordola, drummer Ken Mary, and bassist Chuck Wright.
Due to the late-80s glut of glam metal, the House Of Lords' "I Wanna Be Loved" was just kind of there. You don't really hear it that often nowadays, which, yes, is why audiophiles dig it up.
