40 years ago, you pretty much had to be a high school kid, in order to pick up on the burgeoning thrash metal scene. One of the leaders was L.A.'s Slayer. A popular live track was "The Antichrist," which they still apparently perform.

Back in the mid-80s, we honestly did not think that Slayer would become popular, and certainly not mainstream. We did not picture bands like Slayer playing at arenas, such as Honolulu's Blaisdell's above.
