40 years ago, we attended Presidio Middle School. There were a couple of record stores on Geary near Stanyan. No one had ever heard of the CD, much less seen one. We typically could not afford a full album. And when we did, we bought it on cassette, not vinyl. However, if we grabbed loose change from the couch, and did not spend it on candy, we could buy a 7" vinyl single.

2/3 of the time, the single's B-side was a throwaway track. But other times, the B-side was interesting. Such was the case with The Police's Once Upon A Daydream," the B-side to "Synchronicity II." We were at Ocean Beach, and agreed that "Once Upon A Daydream" could have been included on the album.
