In yesterday's The Offspring post, we mentioned going to San Francisco's Ultimate Sound in the late-90s. That store catered to entry-level high-end audio, so it made sense that it carried Adcom. Thing was, by the end of 1998, Adcom wasn't sufficiently "high-end" enough for customers.
Anyway, the Goo Goo Dolls' "Slide" was a hit then, and was heard at Ultimate Sound. The song is about a Catholic girl, who becomes pregnant. Indeed, a small number of my friends was juuuuust starting to have kids then.
