New Radicals, "You Get What You Give"

So 90s. The day after Christmas 1998, my friend was stretching and doing poses. Since we had received gift certificates for Christmas, she suggested hitting the after-Christmas sales. And in those days, that could mean going to Tower Records, sale or no sale.

The video for the New Radicals' "You Get What You Give," filmed at Staten Island Mall (the band was from L.A., though), was a nice snapshot of the era. A mall was specifically designed for spending money. Listeners focused on the song's name-dropping, and not the serious political lines. My friend suggested that, if you were comfortable with how U2 sounded, you'd also like "You Get What You Give."
