Ah, Columbus & Broadway. It sort of represents where North Beach and Chinatown meet. 35 years ago, outside of school hours, my friends would go to Broadway Rock Accessories (on the NW corner of Broadway & Montgomery), and also to The Stone (for concerts). We'd often exchange cassettes and CDs, before heading to our respective homes.
Somebody had Candlemass' Ancient Dreams, and we liked "The Bells Of Acheron."
We had to look it up. Acheron was actually a stream or small river in Greece. In Greek mythology, the name Acheron was also the equivalent of the River Styx. Charon ferried souls across Acheron.
However, in "The Bells Of Acheron," Acheron was a town. But anyway, when we listened to "The Bells Of Acheron," we felt a sense of doom.
