In late 1988, several friends had Muni Youth Passes, but we had to figure out how to get to the Japanese Tea Garden, located in the middle of Golden Gate Park. From the north, it was kind of near Park Presidio.
Afterward, we learned that the rock band Dokken had a new live album, Beast From The East. The songs were taken from a week-long tour of Japan, during Spring 1988.
We still have that CD, which we bought in late 1988. Perhaps our favorite was and still is "It's Not Love."
We did not know at the time, that on this album, George Lynch's solos were re-recorded. In March 1989, this lineup broke up, and you could argue that, in any iteration, the band has never quite been able to recapture its peak popularity.
