35 years ago, I was a Homeroom Rep. As part of student government, Homeroom Reps were a small part of the planning for Winterball. After Halloween, we finalized the agreement with the venue.
One weekend, some of my friends went over to Anh's house. We were there so late, MTV's Headbangers Ball started. That program debuted House Of Lords' so-so power ballad, "Love Don't Lie."
While at Baker Beach, Anh talked about the Winterball. While Winterball was open to the entire school, it was a "bring a date" couples event. Given that hardly anyone had a boyfriend or girlfriend, that was awkward. So, the common thing to do was gather a small and equal number of boys and girls. You could go as "couples," but once at the event just hang out with your friends.
No, you wouldn't hear House Of Lords' "Love Don't Lie" at Winterball, even though you wanted to. The band was formed, because Gregg Giuffria needed one. They were signed to Gene Simmons' label, under RCA Records.
