The Motels, "Suddenly Last Summer"

40 years ago, we had just entered 7th grade at Presidio Middle School. We could go down to Lands End Beach, and catch a glimpse of the Golden Gate Beach.

We loved The Motels' "Suddenly Last Summer," which used the changing of the seasons as a metaphor of growing up. One of my classmates observed that something was wrong with the recording. She pointed to the upper midrange and upper treble.

In those days, only the rich kids' families had cable TV. But those who did got to watch MTV, which would air the video for "Suddenly Last Summer." Just like the audio recording, the video was in soft focus. Parts were filmed at a beach. Interestingly, Martha Davis' boyfriend was portrayed by Robert Carradine, the guy in Revenge Of The Nerds.
