After Buffalo Springfield broke up, Poco were formed. Poco's sound sort of defined SoCal country rock. Most of my friends were born in 1973, which was when Poco came out with Crazy Eyes. For the rest of the 70s, my neighbors could be overheard playing/listening to Poco.
During the 1992-93 school year, my friend Nicole lived in unit #122 in this college apartment. I lived on the third floor, but not directly above her. Nicole and her three housemates were from SoCal. They would come up to my apartment, to see what music would sound like, on my Sony ES/Adcom/Pinnacle stereo system. One of Nicole's housemates had Poco's Crazy Eyes, and loved their cover of J.J. Cale's "Magnolia." Unforgettably, she swung open my sliding glass door, let the music play, and sunbathed on my balcony.
There are quite a few "yacht rock" audiophiles, many of whom do listen to Poco. Be that as it may, Poco's "Magnolia" is a deep cut, you just have to get and play for yourself.
