35 years ago, we were in the beginning of a prolonged drought. Since we all lived in San Francisco, my friends during the week would make plans for the weekend. If we had large numbers, we could actually play softball/baseball and football. If we did not have the numbers, we played basketball.
But damn it. During the Fall 1988 semester, it hardly rained. But when it did, it fell during weekends, when we wanted to play softball, which needed dry weather.
Rain or shine, indoors or out, we liked Marty Friedman's "Namida (Tears)." If you listened to the softer portions, you could hear Friedman's Hawaiian influences.
If you were a heavy metal fan, perhaps you had long hair. Most of our girls had long hair, anyway. They usually just used a hairband (no pun intended) or scrunchie, to make a pony tail. But sometimes, they felt the need to keep the hair more in place. So you could tie your hair in a bun, and hold it in place, with strategic placement of a clip above the bun. So if you wore a baseball cap, the bun lined up with the hole in the back of the cap.
When listening to "Namida (Tears)" while it rained, some of the girls were bummed, not to play softball. After all, that was the sport they could do. With no chance of needing a baseball cap, you could hold the bun up, by using a clip below the bun.
