Level 42, "Heaven In My Hands"

Because I spent summers in Honolulu with my relatives, I got to grow up with the smooth and soft Waiola Shave Ice. In the summer of 1986, Walkman in tow, I loved eating my shaved ice, and listening to Level 42's "Something About You." The next summer, I'd go back to Waiola, and listen to Level 42's "Lessons In Love," and think about my next basketball game.

Sigh, but here at home in San Francisco, we did not have shaved ice. During the Fall 1988 semester, a whopping 35 years ago, some friends went to Japantown, and got a Sno-Cone. Afterward, we walked a couple blocks to my house. Because I had no sisters or female cousins on my dad's side, my parents were really judgmental about my friends, who typically were nerd girls.

My parents did not like the quiet and shy nerd girls, but those weren't really amongst my friends. Anyway, some friends were over, and it must have been VH1, which aired Level 42's "Heaven In My Hands." And honestly, we hardly ever heard it again. You had to go out and buy it.
