40 years ago, I was at Presidio Middle School, which wasn't far from the Golden Gate Bridge. In those days, if you were a boy, you simply could not date above your socio-economic status. So then, Billy Joel;s "Uptown Girl" started to change that.

And when some of my male classmates ventured north past Baker Beach, Billy Joel's "Tell Her About It" told us that we should actually do something about girls. We knew we were going to get repeatedly rejected, but, as the cliche went, "Nothing ventured, nothing gained."
