We had drought, during the Fall 1988 semester. And when it did rain, that rain tended to fall on weekends, putting a damper on our efforts to play softball. That's why we, when we had enough bodies, played football. Even if we didn't play sports, w still liked to go out.

In those days, cassette singles had a brief existence. One of my friends bought Winger's "Madalaine." The B-side was a song called "Higher And Higher," which we thought was better than half of the album.

We would get to see Winger that semester, when they opened for the Scorpions.
