In the late-80s, during the few times we had a camera, sometimes you just didn't want you picture taken. During that Fall 1988 semester, if you were wearing black, you would fit in with heavy metal music. But one of the best snapshots of late-80s drugs, decay, corruption, and religion was Queensryche's "Operation: Mindcrime."
At our nerdy high school, heavy metal music wasn't that popular. But that's why and how my friends, who were not amongst the popular crowd(s), latched on to it. Cutting through the distortion of the cassette, Siriporn said about lead singer Geoff Tate, "Man, this guy can sing his ass off." None of my guy friends had any vocal talent, so Siriporn gave it her best shot.
