Ah, summer of 1988. We were waiting for the next school year to start, when we'd go to San Francisco's Ocean Beach. Back then, Sananda Maitreya was known as Terence Trent D'Arby. Via boombox, "Sign Your Name" sounded hypnotic, out at the beach. And indeed, we "signed our names" in the sand.

Regardless of which of the artist's names is cited, local media do not play "Sign Your Name."
