In 1983, I attended Presidio Middle School. When there wasn't fog, we could see the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands. Moreover, my PAL baseball team had its home games in the Presidio, which was then an Army base.
In 1983, Marty Balin, a co-founder of local act, Jefferson Airplane, came out with a lite rock song, "Do It For Love."
From this vantage point, we wondered if Balin and other members of Jefferson Airplane/Starship were still living in San Francisco and Marin. Balin's "Do It For Love" wasn't all that common in 1983. Due to internet radio, "Do It For Love" thus gets slightly more plays now, than it did in 1983. And when we do hear it, a tinge of growing up at Presidio Middle School comes back.
