My late grandmother lived in Oakland, so my family often visited her. At the same time, my dad took us to Alameda, where he had gone to high school, and where many of my coworkers now live.
My dad would also take us to UC Berkeley, where he went for grad school. Although Manilow's "Copacabana" seemed to be more popular, we loved hearing Manilow's "Even Now," as we traversed the upper deck of the Bay Bridge, heading home to S.F. Many of my friends and relatives would later attend UC Berkeley. Although they love "Even Now," that's not a song our local media play.
