In the summer of 1993, my friend Christine had O.M.D.'s Liberator, and saw that there was deep album cut, with her name. After reading the lyrics, we thought that "Christine" may have been a stripper or prostitution, who lets go, and drowns herself.
Nevertheless, we all thought "Christine" was an under-appreciated gem. We were at a beach south of San Francisco [you can tell that it was summer, because the setting sun was to the north]. Christine got down to the water, realized she did not have an extra change of clothes, turned to me, and said, "Put down the camera!" She took off and handed me her clothes, and then jumped into the frigid and turbulent waters!
I did have a towel, so as Christine dried off, she admitted that O.M.D.'s "Christine" had allayed her fears and reservations.
30 years later, my wife [who is not Christine] loves the song, "Christine." "If I were a DJ," my wife says, "I'd play this."
