35 years ago, we were in high school, and in our hometown of San Francisco, SOMA was a wasteland. Now it's home to office towers and multi-million dollar condos.
In that summer of 1988, MTV played Nuclear Assault's "Brainwashed," something you never heard on the radio. And wouldn't you know it, the song was about corporate radio brainwashing the audience.
Nuclear Assault were formed by former Anthrax bassist Dan Lilker. We'd see Nuclear Assault at The Warfield, which was (and still is) on SF's Mid-Market. With the rise of other form of media, corporate radio no longer has the sway it once did.
