I met my future wife, in the late-1980s, when were both in high school. One of the things which drew me to her was that she was a fan of hard rock. She was a fan of local Bay Area band, Journey, who, at the time, were on hiatus.
15 years ago, my wife and I were expecting our second child. After work one day, I went to the Rasputin Records, which used to be at the Powell Street cable car turnaround. There, I spotted the new Journey album, Revelation.
Here, the band had found, via YouTube, a Filipino singer doing a wide range of rock songs. So the band reached out to Arnel Pineda, and, against all odds, made him the lead singer. The first new single with Pineda was "After All These Years."
My wife gave birth to a daughter, who now knows quite a few Journey songs. But "After All These Years" is the one, associated with her pending birth. For the audiophiles, "After All These Years" is enjoyable, because it does not get overplayed, as other Journey songs do.
