In college (1989-93), you had multiple people who made huge impacts on your life and personal growth. In ways no one else did, Tuyet (above, middle) fostered my development, leading directly to the way I am now.
Tuyet was a fan of "modern rock." 30 years ago, we were done with finals, and getting ready for graduation. Tuyet had the new album from The Posies, Frosting On The Beater. The Posies were from Bellingham, WA, so it made sense that their popularity rose, along with the Seattle grunge movement. However, my favorite, "Dream All Day," is arguably more power pop than grunge.
Tuyet and I went one last time to Santa Cruz's Well Within Spa. Sadly, after graduation, I would return home to S.F., and she would go home to L.A. Back at her place, The Posies' "Dream All Day" represented our good-bye, our parting. I appreciated and loved Tuyet in ways I didn't with anyone else. Thus, in the 30 years since, I hardly ever played "Dream All Day." Nevertheless, you and I still like it.
