Rod Stewart, "Have I Told You Lately (Unplugged)"

Ah, Davenport, CA. 30 years ago, my study buddy Sachiko and I partnered on (sorry, I don't recall the name of that upper-division Econ class) on a project/report about Odwalla. Back then, Odwalla had offices in that tiny town, a few miles north of Santa Cruz. We had one last interview, with two of Odwalla's Finance employees.

Afterward, Sachiko and I went to nearby Shark's Fin Cove. Upon hearing Rod Stewart's "Unplugged" version of "Have I Told You Lately," Sachiko remarked that, when we were graduating from high school in June 1989, Van Morrison came out with the original.

This is what it looks like, from the cove itself. We looked back, and recalled that, during Spring 1991, Stewart had a studio version of "Have I Told You Lately."

Having come from the interview with Odwalla, Sachiko did have a camera with her. Back in Santa Cruz, she used up the film, and got it developed. Yup, my two feet are on your left and middle, while Sachiko's leg is on your right.

On the Unplugged version of "Have I Told You Lately," Stewart was joined by former Faces band mate, Ronnie Wood. That was the first time since the mid-70s, they had performed together. And then, for me and Sachiko, it only seemed appropriate, that "Have I Told You Lately," albeit not Van Morrison's version, was also ending our college career.
