Can't answer SACD-wise, but Coltrane's "Ballads", "Crescent", and "John Coltrane with Johnny Hartman" are all great, and NOT "difficult" listening. Considering you dug Fav. Thgs., you should definitely get "John Coltrane Quartet Plays", which includes his version of "Chim Chim Cheree" and "Nature Boy".
