I can't comment on that recording but on the Junior Brown on Telarc when he goes for the hard overdriven rock sound which he does from time to time it sounds terrible. It really sounded like the amp was straining with worn out tubes. Michael Bishop who posts here confirmed that so sometimes the end product can have flaws. I'm assuming however your recording has acoustic guitar. You may want to try and get a hold of Michael for his input.
