Disappointing is too strong for my expereince with the Brahms 1 & 3... not satisfyng is probably more accurate.I don't know what it is, maybe they (the L.A. Phil) just don't mesh as well with CVD as with most other conductors or maybe there's something in his style that I don't vibe with but I've yet to hear them together and enjoy it or feel that the music has really been brought to life (something I experience regularly with the orchestra and other conductors). Oddly enough my other most disappointing concert was when Franz Welser Most conducted them a couple of years ago.
Don't piss on my shoe and tell me it's raining.
