Hi one and all, I would be curious to know if any of my fellow villagers are familiar with the music of Tavener, Part, Vasks, Tuur, Pelecis, and other like minded composers. I find the music both beautiful and fascinating. Most of these musicians are from the Baltic states with the exception of the British Tavener, but at a rather early age, he too was drawn to Eastern Orthodoxy. God has been dead in the high arts for most of the 20th century and I find it refreshing that, through these composers, He is being welcomed back into the club as we enter the 21st century! As it stands now, with the exception of Arvo Part, I only have Tavener's "The Protecting Veil" on Telarc.......Vasks "Distant Light" and "Voices" with Gidon Kremer and Kremer again with "From My Home"....which is a bit of a taste of the rest of the composers I've mentioned above. Is anyone aware of other releases by these Baltic music makers? What should be my next Tavener selection?
Thanks ahead of time, Tom B.
