Okay, not new - but I have had this on order for Rockinghorse Records (In Brisbane) for 15 months and just received it!Well, I guess this is ambient-ish, pop-ish, alt-country-ish, electronica. Confused? Me to (tho that is not difficult). For those familiar with the band's Country Falls, Ghost is Not Real is not a great departure, tho swaps some of Country Falls' chill-out interludes and disco for a little more in the way of vocal-driven tracks. Ghost is Not Real hangs together more as concept album, rather than a mere collection of songs, which appeals to me. Overall, it is a little more sparse than Country Falls yet more interesting; less disco yet more danceable... it is electronic, yet organic and human... contradictions at first sniff, but there it is. But hey, I like contradictions.
Yes, I like this album. It is relaxing, interesting, and eminently listenable time and time again; like Country Falls, it should have greater longevity than most of this genre.
Cheers
Edit: Some things I forgot to mention - this album seems to reflect the sparseness of the band's homeland and it also contains some light, yet beautiful melodies - nice.
