To each his own. But my shots, as most are, are not from my seat, but from the side of the ballroom. Consequently, I'm not blocking anyone's view, or otherwise a distraction. I generally average three concerts a month, and more annoying are the cell phones in the air.

I do photograph at our local jazz club - Joshua Redman and Jane Monheit notwithstanding. I then have the photos professionally printed, and then autographed and professionally matted and framed. Kurt Rosenwinkel just went up on the wall. My experience has been that the musicians seem to appreciate the photographs. Their reactions have been quite positive.

Benny Golson and Ralph Stanley have autographed my photos which are hanging on the wall of my audio room. Looking at their photos on the internet isn't quite the same.
