I bought my first CD player, a Magnavox FD-3030, in 1984 ... it was 'last year's model' on sale for ... $300? at what I recall as "Poor Richard's" stereo store in SF. I drove from Pleasanton, CA to buy it.

Anyone recall that store? I can't find anything about it ...
