No, I wasn't judging an entire class of products based on my little table radio, active ATC's are on my audition list. And, if I get my music room back, I will be putting together a simple living room system. When that time comes I'm certainly going to look at KEF BT (others?) actives, I hate cables in the living room! Perhaps given the budget in this case an active is the way to go, but do you get a better sounding system at this price point? I have no idea.

And, I see KP's point in that if the powered speaker fails (either the amp or the speaker) aren't you down 2 components in the system, especially if it's not possible or cost effective to repair it? Now, the KEF's come with a pretty good warranty, so I would at least listen to them and their passive brothers with a nice amp to compare, well, maybe Pink Lady's to Honeycrisps.
