I have acquired a mint condition Yamaha R-900 Receiver that I would really like to restore to full operation. I have no audio output via the speakers or the headphones. I believe that the problem could be prior to the final output transistors. Here are the diagnostics I have run so far:I fed the preamp output (via rear panel jacks) into another amp and all functions worked correctly. FM Stereo, etc. works correctly and is correctly controlled by the volume control.
I have insured that I have the bridging switch set correctly to bridge the amp/preamp together.
I DO NOT hear the characteristic "clunk" of the protection relay engaging when I turn the receiver on.
I am considering ordering a service manual, but it has been years since I have walked through a circuit at the component level. If you have done component level diagnostics on this type of unit, I would appreciate your input.
Thank you in advance.
