As I stated earlier, I was going to try a reclocker from the Wiim Pro Plus network streamer..... To the SMSL VMV D1se2 DAC....

Using a USB linear power supply to power the reclocker, the performance of the streaming rig has been raised considerably.... The soundstage is much larger, and better image specificity...... A lot closer to the level of my beloved Don Allen modified Philips CDC935 CD changer.

Since prior to the reclocker mod, what I've heard from the streaming rig was very typical of what I've heard from other streaming rigs, I do think the FLAC file decoding may be what's holding these streamers back..... I guess the expensive ones have better jitter performance than the inexpensive ones.... But this $175 reclocker raises the bar for getting top performance from inexpensive streaming rigs.

For those who use streaming audio to an external DAC, you may want to try a reclocker between the streaming device and the DAC. (I use optical links for both input and output from the DIGIRescue streamer. Coaxial is also an option, I might try the coaxial to optical from the CDC935 to the Gustard X26 Pro.) You might be surprised by the improvement in performance.

I will also be trying the Wyred4Sound Remedy reclocker..... Will be an interesting comparison.
