RE: Gapless playback

The gaps are on the tracks. If there are no gaps recorded into the tracks they will play without break.

Let's go back to my opera example. The opera plays from beginning to end with only a break at an intermission. But most opera recordings break it into tracks so people can skip to their favorite arias and sections easily. But these tracks always play gapless as there was no break in the music. If you skip to a particular track you may be skipping into the middle of a beat. Some tracks are very short, others are long, but it doesn't impact playback.

One of my DACs wasn't playing things gapless when playing MQA as it was doing some technical thingy for each MQA track (it was a bug and was ultimately fixed). It was while playing an opera that I noticed it and it drove me crazy.

And just to be clear, opera is not my usual listening. I'm still a rock and roller.
