No axe to grind -- just didn't care for the machines period. Purely a personal and entirely subjective opinion. I did use the balanced configuration and matched both machines with the Ayre AX7e integrated amp and Merlin TSM-MX speakers, Acoustic Zen cables (don't remember specifics). OK - I will concede that maybe in a different system configuration, I might have reached a different conclusion, although curiously I seemed to like this particular system better when I switched back in an older Creek CD player. I later sold everything except the CD player, which I now use as a transport for an external DAC/headphone amp and AKG phones. I now find myself enjoying the music more and not worrying so much about the hardware -- I think this may happen with a lot of people.
