I've personally never tried this, so I can't say for sure. I've always been a proponent of the "rigid" mounting school of thought. Although it's not hard to imagine that a resonant baffle could transfer vibrations from the woofer to the midrange and/or tweeter. In that case, there could be some benefits from decoupling.And there are certainly a handful of designs over the years that have claimed great results from decoupling. I think Andrew Jones (now of TAD) most recently wrote a white paper recommending this approach. But I would think that if it universally worked that it would be universally used by now. Maybe it depends on the individual characteristics of the baffle and the drivers used.
That's the big problem -- there's just not enough time to try out every single idea. But one thing's for sure -- everything makes a difference!
