All audio-related functions within the digital domain are dependant on sample's and points of reference.

Although DAC's are capable of a wide range of voltage samples, they nonetheless have the same unchanging points of reference. A minimum threshold, an average threshold and a maximum peak threshold.

Analog on the otherhand has a continuous "fluid" threshold within its range of scale. Do you understand what I am saying here?
