...on Mimetism and Orpheus Laboratories...

202.156.6.68

I owned the Orpheus Laboratories Zero Player for about a year. It was the best and most satisfying CD-player I ever had in my system, in terms of resolution and musicality. Thinking that I could do better (upgrade?), I sold it off with great regret that is still haunting me today. To date I have not found anything that I like that stood out like the Orpheus.

(I have listened to various machines from Ayre, Opus Resolution, Cary, Burmester, MBL, Goldmund, CEC, Bel Canto, 47 Lab, Audionote, and the list goes on...)

Today, I listened to MIMETISM 20.1 for the first time and I was really captivated by it. The sound was very similar to Orpheus sound and it's cheaper (by just a bit only). And personally, I really like the looks of it. Simplicity! But the CD-ROM transport/drawer was a "shaky affair". Mimetism should have done better than that... sigh!

Sonically, it was WOW! Clear and natural and MUSICAL. Music flows and I just kept going on and on and on with the CD. Music glows from the soundstage organically. Vocals was pristine!

Anyway, this is not a review in anyways. I was just simply awed by Mimetism. Any Mimetism users care to share your experience? Or better still, anyone who has done a Orpheus vs Mimetism comparison?

I'd really like to listen to your views.
TIA!
