Re: Why modify a good CD Player?

213.33.155.58

Hey,

It may sound a bit off-topic, but I modded my 16-year old speakers, having assumed that I won't fetch much money for them. The technician who made the upgrade (who is also a spares' seller) assured me that the upgrade would bring them to a different league, which did not happen. Now they are sort of "overdynamic" and they totally lost sonic consistency. They are unable to catch up with the level of high quality caps and crossovers he had inserted. That man also insisted that I should upgrade my CDP (Cary 308T), but I refused. I know that after it is modded with higher quality caps and wires, it will become "cleaner", "more dynamic", etc. etc., but totally unlistenable. I learned a good lesson with the speakers. There are men who listen to the music and enyoy it; there are others who make their living on upgrades; and they are others who make upgrades/soldering job their mode of life.
