Get a cd53 for $50 and mod it. I had an extensively modded Marantz cd53 and it easily beat out two of my buddies players, a Rega Planet and Naim cd3.5. It will take alot of work and it need more than just a basic opamp and cap swapp, but it will cost you less than $200 total. Unfortunetly i ened up accidently shorting something in mine when a scre fell into the open player while the top was removed, now its freid and I have to start all over. I put many hours into that player:(So i am now looking for a good replacement, not sure if Ill give it a go with another cd53. I may try something differant this time.
