I have that player also and yeah, it does what you describe. However, I bought a CD lens cleaning kit to try and it seems to have worked. CDs can play through w/o skipping-- even the direct track access keys work... also CDrs... some scuffed up CDRs used in the car do cause some sporatic skipping, but, that doesn't surprise me.
