Pioneer DV-578a. They are last year's model but some were available for around $100. I got one at the end of April from etronics.com.
The current model, which is the 588a may also still be available for a little more money.
Great sound for little money. On redbook it sounds very close to my old $1000 dac. On some SACD's it sounds better. Needs revealing interconnects to sound its best.
Much better than the cheap Toshiba DVD player I recently tried.
