Hi MorayThanks for the great post!
At the moment I've concluded that 4 decompressing (expanding under the load) springs sound better than 4 compressing springs (as the dealer has it set up). I'll inform him later of my findings.
I'll give your suggestion a try later this week, I've got an email in to the importer for more clarification anyway.
The Bluenote is very unequally balanced on the 4 towers. The front two towers appear to take up very little of the weight. The back two take most of the load. This would indicate a weight placed near the front of the player might help things out.
I've downloaded a quicktime movie at the bluenote site which shows a Mime-like character assembling a Bellagio TT. Resolution is poor but I'm pretty sure that the springs on that TT expand under the load of the top platter. Since the Stibbert platter seems to be copied from the TT platter, I'll bet this is the proper CD player configuration too.
Regardless I'll try alternating spring setup and do some critical listening.
Thanks Again
Barry
