I can't answer your question, sorry. All I can say is yes, definitely get the metal screen version between a turntable and a phono stage. I would say, even between a preamp and a power amp. The only place where I would use the full carbon version is behind a high level source like a DAC.

I've owned the First Ultimate MK2 and loved it, only the bass was a let down - a bit "slow" for my taste- but I changed quite a few things in my system since and I wish I'd kept it.
