Getting back into audio after an 8 year break. Mostly has been HT, but with some recently acquired B&W speakers and a nice CD player, well, ya know... it's time. :)
However, I won't be going down the rabbit hole of SET amps, single driver horn speakers, exotic cables, etc. Really. I promise.
Current system:
Onkyo TX-NR656
B&W CDM 1NT
B&W CDM CNT
B&W DM 600S3
VeloDyne FSR 12
Amazon Basic OFC 14g cable
Looking at Canare 4S11 cables. And the choices of connectors...Viborg VB401G bananas?
Def want bananas at the amp side, talk about no wiggle room. For the speaker side I will most likely also replace the jumper plates with the same wire, so maybe bananas and then use spades for the jumpers?
I won't bi amp or biwire unless someone says it's a huge difference with the CDMs. I've never noticed a difference with other speakers.
OR grab a pair of used cables off the auction site. I'm adding this up now and wow. I won't rewire the surrounds, but want the front three wired the same. SO those Viborgs are $30 a set, so $90, plus $1.50ft for the wire (let's call it 8+8+4= 20ft) $30, plus spades (12)... another, what $90?
Audioquest Rocket 33 or Tellurium Blue II used for a little less?
Thanks-
Gosh, I need to update my inmates system!
