I'm going to make a pair of XLR cables and have a couple of questions. I am planning to use the Neotech NEI-2001 cable which has 3 conductors AND a drain wire as it doesn't have a braided shield.
Pin 1 - Ground
Pin 2 - Positive
Pin 3 - Negative
Do I connect the 3rd conductor to pin 1 only on the source side and leave it floating on the load side?
How about the drain wire, what do I do with this, the same as the pin 1 ground conductor?
Thanks.
