I made and used them too, but I ended up going the route of directly-driven ESLs, which made using the braids impossible. When I, sold my Vandys, the biwire set of braids went with them. The bass side ended up being around 9 gauge, and mid/treble around 15 I think. They sounded very, very good with my Counterpoint & Vandersteen setup.
Making them was a BITCH, and I'd NEVER do it again. As good as the results were, it was just way too much work. And did I mention the cramps in the hands and wrists? I know I didn't talk about the blisters on my fingers. In that weekend long ago, I learned to loathe Teflon insulation.
Good times back then and good sounding home-brew cables.
